Afi Womba… hey gidi. I waited around five years to make this album. For years I’d hum to myself in that Southeast Anatolia singing style, or like I’m at an Arab wedding… but with completely meaningless words. Pure nonsense. It might sound outside the Zehuk vibe, but I loved it. I promised myself, one day I’d turn these crazy hums into an album.
Over the years Zehuk Band formed, and the character giving me that keko energy became clear, HIRCO. Yep. Hırco is responsible for laments and that Middle Eastern vibe. I gave him the job, I handed him my soul. Then he talks to Nerd, “hafız,” he goes, “can you help me with this album?” “Zehuk wants something like this, he wants the music bed to be dubstep. You do the beats, I’ll spill the melodies and nonsense lyrics, we’ll solve it.” So they jump on it and head to Mardin together. All the recordings happen there, and boom… this album comes out.
